The family Farinosi Branconi

A native of Colle Brinconio, since 1300 the family moved to L’Aquila during the most beatiful moment of its renewal. Immediately, they beame part of the social context, strongly interested in spiritual values.

Infact, one of the members of the family, Paolo di Nicola di Paolo, who was defined by Mario Morelli a munificed noble in his book : “LA BEATA ANTONIA DA FIRENZE ED IL MONASTERO AQUILANO DELL’EUCARESTIA” who in 1415 was engaged in the erection of the Convent of Saint Giuliano . He wanted to found also the Convent of Saint Elisabetta; for the one he obtained necessary assent from Pope Martino V° with a papal Brief of 16-05-1430.

A family of strong spirituality in which some figures stay out, such as Paolo and Giuliano and Beata Ludovica.

The adaptation of the Square and the Church of Saint Silvestro in L’Aquila is a demonstration of prestige and ascendancy of the family in the realization of Palaces and houses with rooms inside rich of frescos by Raffaello’s apprentices.

Inside the Convent Church of Saint Silvestro, on the right of the major altar there is the family chapel with precious coloured marbles and frescos by Bedeschini.

The Palace of 1500 keeps save the original aspect, especially in the main front wall in Garibaldi street, with a late mannerism portal and a family banner.

As some recent essays underline, the building has some structures of a previous old palace. The courtyard has a rich fastigium in stucco with araldic banners of the family.

Ceilings, frescos and gold stucco decorate the monumental room, especially the one dedicated to Giulio junior, one of the members of the family, dead on the 26 october of 1984. The large hall at the corner between Garibaldi street and Saint Silvestro Square has frescos representing family achievements, in man size.

Remarkable a blue lacunar ceiling with gold stars symbolizing the sky.
